Bobby McKenzie reports, “So the trash trap at Lee Street pond is getting an upgrade…”

No doubt everyone agrees with Bobby when he says, “Hope it works!”

He elaborates:

Progression of Stormwater Management’s attitude and comments about stopping the trash in the pond went from

• inefficient use of manpower by “We clean this up after every rain event”,
• to fining the old Micheal’s Deli property owners,
• to give me your ideas on funding,
• to I’ll elevate your concerns to upper management,
• to I’m painting Easter Eggs and enjoying family time,
• to the floating homemade trash trap,
• to that homemade trap isn’t working,
• to this monster structure.

In case anybody does not understand what Bobby wrote: that’s a compliment.

A compliment that should not have to be written, if Valdosta had just gotten on with cleaning up its trash problem, as it said in its own Stormwater Master Plan a dozen years ago.

If it does work, maybe not as many fast food containers from Zacadoo’s, Kentucky Fried Chicken, and others will float down One Mile Branch and Sugar Creek to the Withlacoochee River.
