Public hearing to present information and receive public comment on the proposed PFAS NPDWR:

The United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is hosting a public hearing to present information and receive public comment on the proposed per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) National Primary Drinking Water Regulation (NPDWR) under the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA). The hearing will be held virtually on May 4, 2023, from 11am until 7pm eastern time. The number of online connections available for the hearing is limited and will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Persons wishing to attend this public hearing are requested to register in advance no later than May 2, 2023.

During the virtual hearing, there will be an opportunity for participants to provide brief public comment. To indicate interest in providing verbal comment to EPA during the hearing, please include that as part of registration. EPA will contact those that indicate they would like to provide public comment in advance of the public hearing with more details including timing. The last day to register to speak at the hearing will be April 28, 2023. To submit visual aids to support your oral comment, please contact PFASNPDWR@epa.gov for guidelines and instructions. Registration will remain open for the duration of the hearing itself for those wishing to provide oral comment during unscheduled testimony; however, early registration is strongly encouraged to ensure proper accommodations and adequate timing.

If you require any accommodations such as language translation, captioning, or other special accommodations for the day of the hearing, please indicate this as a part of your registration. EPA requests this information be provided by April 28, 2023. EPA may not be able to arrange accommodations without advance notice. For meeting registration issues, logistical questions, or if you experience any technical difficulties during the public hearing, please contact pfasmeetingsupport@cadmusgroup.com. For all other questions related to the public hearing, please contact PFASNPDWR@epa.gov.

On May 3, 2023, EPA will post a general agenda for the hearing that will list pre-registered speakers in approximate order at: https://www.epa.gov/sdwa/and-polyfluoroalkyl-substances-pfas. EPA will make every effort to follow the schedule as closely as possible on the day of the hearing; however, please plan for the hearings to run either ahead of schedule or behind schedule. Please note that the public hearing may close early if all business is finished. Please monitor the PFAS NPDWR website or contact PFASNPDWR@epa.gov to determine if there are any updates.

EPA encourages commenters to provide EPA with a written copy of their oral testimony electronically by submitting it to the public docket at www.regulations.gov, Docket ID: EPA-HQ-OW-2022-0114. Written statements and supporting information submitted during the comment period will be considered when developing the final rule with the same weight as oral comments and supporting information presented at the public hearing.

Note: EPA will use your registration information solely for this event and for future related announcements. We will not share your information with any third party.
