Follow this link to the spreadsheet that is used to draw the map of the Alapaha River Water Trail. See below for the purpose of this spreadsheet. Please send in your suggestions and corrections.

Purpose of this spreadsheet

This spreadsheet has several purposes:

1. WWALS uses it for maps of the Alapaha River Water Trail.
2. Data for use by local governments, county, city, and other interested parties such as chambers of commerce, tourism councils, etc.
3. For drawing detail maps by SRWMD and others.
4. For WWALS to keep track of ARWT data for its own uses, such as brochures, guides, kiosks, cards, etc.

WWALS Water Trails Committee members are finding and filling in data for each of these categories.

Current categories include: Acess/Landing, Outfitter, Camping/Lodging, Bridge, Waterfall, Spring, Rapid/Shoal, Hiking Trail (Trail Head), Tributary, River Gauge, Water Discharge, Obstacle, Point of Interest. GRN River Trail coordinator Gwyneth Moody says she will check with GA-EPD about adding a category for Lakes. WWALS has already added in the WWALS working spreadsheet categories for:

• Lake
• Sinkhole
• Landing (for a constructed boat ramp or canoe launch)
• Access (for unimproved access)
• Railbridge (separate from Bridge, which we use for road bridge)
• ARWT Sponsor
• Logo contest sponsor

These additional categories get translated back to GRN’s categories before updating the GRN spreadsheet.

The example Ocmulgee River Water Trail spreadsheet GRN sent only has 141 items, so it wasn’t too hard to construct a spreadsheet for the Alapaha River Water Trail, currently at 75 items (2014-03-05) 126 items (2014-04-24) 191 items (2017-08-27).

GRN Spreadsheet

We are also making the spreadsheet information available in the online location requested by GRN. Since we keep quite a bit more information in our spreadsheet, such as mile markers, boatable low and safe high water levels, and tax assessor parcel numbers, we remove and remap a number of fields with a program before inserting into the GRN spreadsheet. This GRN version is not as current as the WWALS ARWT spreadsheet.
