Clean Little River and Withlacoochee River clean again 2021-04-22

Update 2021-04-27: Very bad water quality: Withlacoochee River 2021-04-26.

Clean as a whistle: the start of tomorrow morning’s BIG Little River Paddle Race, Red Roberts Landing at Rountree Bridge, upstream on the Little River from Reed Bingham State Park Lake, according to a Thursday sample by WWALS tester Elizabeth Brunner.

Postponed due to weather to 2PM, Sunday, April 25, 2021: BIG Little River Paddle Race.

And clean Thursday from Knights Ferry to FL-6 on the Withlacoochee River, according to WWALS testers Michael and Jacob Bachrach and Madison Health.

So as far as we can tell, happy paddling, swimming, and fishing!

We have nothing from Valdosta for any day since Monday, but that showed clean at US 41, GA 133, and US 84 on the Withlacoochee River.

Downstream we wish people would stop stealing the water trail signs at Knights Ferry Boat Ramp.

We don’t know what the fire was about.

But the plates were completely clean of E. coli colonies.

Somebody stole the bottom water trail sign from Nankin Boat Ramp. We will replace the signs, but they cost money.

The Bachrachs found an agate.

That’s what clean water looks like at the state line. No different looking than filthy water, really.

The state line is actually beyond the bridge.

Last Friday, WWALS tester Elizabeth Brunner took samples at three rivers on GA 122, and found them all clean.

Continue east and just beyond Lakeland is Lakeland Boat Ramp, on the Alapaha River Water Trail.

For Monday, April 12, 2021, we have the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) monthly results for three rivers. Those single points on the Withlacoochee, Alapaha, and Suwannee Rivers all tested clean.

So the Swim Guide map remains green. Red Roberts Landing is way up at the top left of the map. It’s not marked, but maybe we should add it as a “beach” on Swim Guide.
