Clean week, Withlacoochee River 2021-04-08

Update 2021-04-16: Clean again: Withlacoochee River 2021-04-15.

No spills, little rain, clean rivers!

Samples by WWALS testers Michael and Jacob Bachrach at Knights Ferry, Nankin, and State Line Boat Ramps came out about as clean as you can get, and actually zero at State Line. Also zero at Cleary Bluff downstream of Allen Ramp by Gus Cleary.

And there was little rain yesterday, and none so far today.

So happy boating, fishing, and swimming this weekend!

But what is this fruit?

This is the cleanest chart we’ve seen in a while. Upstream we have Valdosta data through Wednesday, matching the downstream Thursday WWALS data.

We don’t have any new results for Cook County Boat Ramp or Troupville Boat Ramp, but those locations are almost always clean, so Swim Guide still shows them historical green.

We have no new Madison Health data since last week, so Sullivan Launch, Madison Blue Spring State Park Launch, and Madison Boat Ramp all show yellow on Swim Guide for historical mixed results.

For Thursday last week, April 1, 2021, Madison Health showed all those downstream Withlacoochee River landings clean even after significant rain on Wednesday March 31. Apparently no cattle manure washed down Okapilco Creek, and no wild hog manure washed down the river. But Swim Guide times out results after a week, so they show yellow now (except Allen Ramp, which I set green because of Gus Cleary’s clean results a few miles downstream). Given very little rain, there’s every reason to expect those locations are still clean.

Also historical yellow is Gibson Park Boat Ramp on the Suwannee River just upstream from the Alapaha River Confluence. That’s also probably still clean, as probably is the Alapaha River and the rest of the Suwannee River.
