OK this weekend and last, Withlacoochee River 2020-09-03

Update 2020-09-11: Withlacoochee River looks good; odd Suwannee River results 2020-09-10

Good to go, so far as we know, for boating, swimming, and fishing on the Withlacoochee River this weekend. And both Valdosta and Madison Health concur that last weekend was good.

WWALS testers Michael and Jacob Bachrach for Thursday, September 3, got 66 cfu/100 mL E. coli at Knights Ferry Boat Ramp, and zero (0) at Nankin and State Line Boat Ramps. Can’t get much better than that.

For the previous Friday, August 28, 2020, Valdosta’s results at the same locations were good. Surprisingly, Madison Health tested that same Friday, rather than their usual Thursday, and got even better downstream results as far as FL 6 just above Madison Blue Spring.

Upstream Valdosta results for this Monday, August 31, show high Fecal coliform at US 41, GA 133, and US 84 after the Sunday rain upstream on the Withlacoochee River, but E. coli still within single-sample limits. The most recent Valdosta results we have are for Wednesday, September 2, and we have no downstream Valdosta results for Monday or Wednesday. Thanks to Valdosta PIO Ashlyn Johnson for getting that much published.

However, Madison Health tested downstream on Tuesday, September 1, and got very good results.

All these results are merely advisory, because conditions can change within hours. But we show all the WWALS Withlacoochee River “beaches” still green on Swim Guide.

So far as we know, happy Withlacoochee River this weekend!
