Director Frost said we had done a creek cleanup that morning with the Mayor; it was really mostly a Sugar Creek cleanup. And cleanups won’t fix the problem: Valdosta needs to buy some trash traps and educate people about and enforce its upstream ordinances about not letting trash off of parking lots; see https://wwals.net/issues/trash/ Floridians, remember all this is upstream from Florida. Everyone, you can help.

Thanks to Georgia Beer Co. for donating a Vibe Yellowfin kayak to WWALS. You could win it by becoming a $100 sponsor of the Suwannee Riverkeeper Songwriting Contest.

Thanks to all who came by the WWALS booth, and special thanks to Jesse Cole for helping set it up, and to Georgia Beer Co. for the buckets of water that held it down.

I believe that is Valdosta Assistant City Manager Richard Hardy in the background. We had a nice chat about trash. He said he might be available to meet after about two weeks, but he agreed trash should be on the Valdosta City Council agenda. Friday we sent a letter to Mayor and Council asking for trash to be put on that agenda.

Thanks to Valdosta Mayor Scott James for driving the morning’s Sugar Creek trash to the festival (his idea). He and Council Andy Gibbs helped pick up that trash.
