Water Quality Testing

You can help WWALS test water quality by donating to our WWALS water quality testing program.

Each bacterial test costs $6 for Petrifilms alone.
WWALS is spending about $40 a day on Petrifilms after Valdosta’s record spill.

Beyond sewage spills, something else is getting into our springs, rivers, and wells, nitrates from fertilizer, maybe livestock, wildlife, domestic pets, or septic tanks. We want to know when, where, and what, so maybe we can do something about it.

And when there is a spill, the testing required by the permits is very limited, so we want to follow up spills and find out how far they went and what they affected.

So WWALS has started a Water Quality Testing Program.

Water Trail Signs

Help put up the road signs that let people know the Alapaha River Water Trail (ARWT) and Withlacoochee and Little River Water Trail (WLRWT) exist, and directs them to the landings, as well as the kiosks that inform people about what to expect nearby, so we get more people paddling the rivers who will take care of the rivers.

Water Trail Brochures

There’s still room for sponsor logos on these proofs of brochures ready to print 10,000 copies of each to distribute in Georgia and Florida on I-75 and elsewhere. This will be the third edition of the Alapaha River Water Trail (ARWT) brochure, and the first-ever Withlacoochee and Little River Water Trail (WLRWT) brochure.

Troupville River Camp

A Troupville River Camp will attract paddling and fishing enthusiasts of all ages. The property is located at the Confluence of the Little River with the Withlacoochee River, off of I-75 and GA 133 just west of Valdosta, the biggest city in the Suwannee River Basin. Proposed amenities include air-conditioned bathrooms, hot and cold running water, five screened sleeping platforms, picnic tables and benches, outdoor fire pits, and paddle boat racks for canoes, kayaks, and paddle boards, with river access near the Confluence.
